I had a lot of small and one big different flavor candles around the house. I liked the idea of having one big candle that would burn all the different flavors and get rid of the multiple containers.
Here are what the candles looked like prior to being joined together.
I bought some long wicks at the local craft store and had the mason jar from another project around the house.
I used a popsicle stick to wrap the wick around and placed it at the top of the mason jar.
Next I took a pan, placed the candle inside with enough water to cover the wax. Then I set the temperature to medium low and keep an eye on the wax.
Once the wax melted down a little I started to wiggle the wick from the candle.
Once the candle had melted completely I carefully poured the liquid into the mason jar. There was no real easy way to do this, maybe buy some cheap oven mitts so you can crab the hot glass jar and don't care if you get wax on them! For the smaller jars I used a par of pliers to pull it from the water and help me pour into the mason jar.
I recommend waiting till the layers are completely dry prior to pouring the next flavor in. There are some that mixed a little as I didn't wait long enough.
This is the almost finished project... I forgot to get a picture of it.

Jar Art
Trying to decorate the top of my cabinets in our kitchen, I came across some ideas on making mason jars into art.
I bought some jars for other things so I had plenty laying around. I also bought some cute, French themed paper for the inside. Again I stuck with the black, white and red color scheme.
I cut the paper to fit inside the jars and used mod podge to glue them inside.
Next I bought some candle stick holders at the dollar store and spray painted them black. I bought a spray paint tool from the store and love this thing...
I then painted the lids of the jars a bright red.
Now the fun part, gluing the jars to the candle stick holders. I used crafters glue and it worked just fine.
The finished project...

Old cabinet door... turned coat rack
We do not have a mudroom or closet off of the garage for all our jackets. I went to our local salvage yard and found an old cabinet door for $1.
It was pretty weathered, it took some glue and sanding to prepare it for painting.
The hall where this is hung is by our kitchen, which I am trying to keep the color scheme of black, red and white. I choose a glaze paint so you would not see dirt and fingerprints.
I picked up some keys and flat metal clock pieces at Michaels, and spray painted them red.
I also purchased $1 white nobs with black designs of clocks, keys, french themed items. The fun part was drilling the holes with my dad.
Next my dad sawed off the backs of the knobs to make it flush with the board.
Then we patched the back of the board with putty to make it look nice and smooth on the back. Because lots of people look on the back :) I then painted over all the putty with the black paint to match the front.
The semi finished front...
Here is what it looked like hanging on the wall before I added the bows.
I wanted to hide the hangers so I made a bow for each side, I glued the ribbon together with a button in the middle. Not sure how to explain the steps, so just follow along with the pictures...
I also wrapped the wire in black ribbon and hung the keys down from the wire in the middle.
