This is the first project we tackled. I had come up with this idea before we knew we got the house. I saw the bathroom during our first viewing of the house. When I can not sleep I redecorate or in this case decorate rooms in my mind and it helps me to fall asleep.
Here is the bathroom before we did our handy work.
I first painted the whole room a light grey.
Next I taped some vertical lines, about counter top height down to the baseboards. I highly recommend doing this with a level and some really good tape. We have very textured walls and the paint came through the tape we had.
Then I painted the darker grey in the stripes. Sorry I did not take a lot of pictures of the process.
Next we made some fun trips to Home Depot for a chair rail and molding for around the mirror. Then my loving husband made some more fun trips to my parents house. As we bought the chair rail in one piece and the molding needed to be cut to fit the mirror.
This is the finished project...
Here is the molding around the mirror and a close up of the molding and chair rail.
And last a picture of the blue, fluffy rug my friend Jill helped me pick out. I love this bath room, it turned out good for two amateurs. My husband did a wonderful job putting up the chair rail and molding. We learned what tools and material to use for our next project.
This is a blog showing all my crazy hare brain ideas I come up with when I can not sleep. Hope you enjoy my ideas and pictures. Please feel free to share your own.

Fun time painting....
My poor husband hates painting, and now after painting our new house he sure doesn't like it that much more. I love to paint but, at the end I was done with painting too.
Ben trying to enjoy the process...
Our master bedroom bye, bye orange red paint...
Thanks to my sister Daniella who helped paint with us! Nothing helps more then having 2 people who are way taller then you are to reach those high places.

Our new home
Here are some pictures of our new home. We searched for months to find just the perfect one. This one was meant for us as 8 other offers/deals fell through on this house, before we saw it and made an offer. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, 2 car garage and an open floor plan. We love having so much room, as we went from about 600 square feet to 1,500. This blog is all my "hare-brain" ideas, that is what my husband Ben calls them. I tried to take a lot of before and after pictures. Hope you enjoy and are inspired to come up with some of your own ideas :)
The above pictures are the living room, front entryway and dining room.
The next pictures are the stairs, the upstairs hallway, the cut-out in the upstairs hallway, upstairs bathroom, the guest bedroom and the study.
The next pictures are of the kitchen (with the red), the master bedroom and bathroom.
Sorry about the sideways one of the master bedroom. There are more to come so stay tuned....
